Help us save North Pond!
North Pond Association (NPA) in partnership with 7 Lakes Alliance, is planning an alum treatment to address algal blooms on North Pond starting as early as June 2025, pending funding. The expected project cost is approximately $3 million and includes two applications of alum, associated permitting, lake water analysis, and monitoring. 7 Lakes Alliance will manage this substantial project, guided by their extensive experience of successful treatment on East Pond in 2018. When completed, this will be one of the largest lake alum treatments ever conducted in the United States.
SIGNIFICANT FUNDRAISING UNDERWAY
Over the last eight months, 7 Lakes has worked closely with U.S. Senator Susan Collins on a $2.3 million
Congressionally Directed Spending Grant (CDS Grant). This grant has been approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee. Please note that this funding is subject to change until the final budget bill is signed into law. There is a 20% matching requirement of $700,000 towards the $3 million treatment cost and this match must be available to secure the CDS grant, if awarded, to begin the project.
Our collaborative goal is raising the $700,000 by December 31, 2024. Please consider this an investment in North Pond’s future and help us reach this goal by donating today. We urge shorefront residents and those with right of way access to consider a donation of 2% of their assessed property value. This will ensure that we can meet the $700,000 requirement. The return on your investment will be immediate with a clear and safer lake for families and wildlife to enjoy while enhancing property values. A healthy lake supports the economic well-being of the surrounding communities. If you want to know your assessed property value, please contact your local town office.

Alliance in an interest-accruing account. Your donation to 7 Lakes Alliance for the benefit of the North Pond Remediation Fund is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
